Teresa Letizia, Principal
This year, Teresa Letizia joins St. Ann, The Personal School as Principal. An educator with more than twenty-five years of experience, Ms. Letizia has dedicated her professional life to researching and introducing the best instructional practices to support students' academic learning, social-emotional growth, and character development.
In her new position, Ms. Letizia will continue to expand St. Ann's role as a pioneer in personalized learning. Since establishing "The Personal School" in 2014, St. Ann has been selected for numerous awards and honors including the prestigious Blackboard Award for Outstanding New York City School. St. Ann has also been profiled as a "Top School to Visit" by Getting Smart, featured as a New York State Education Department "Ed Tech Innovator", and named one of "New York City's Best Private Schools" by New York Family. In addition, St. Ann has become an internationally recognized "model school" for personalized instruction, with over 200 educators from North America, Asia, and Europe visiting to learn its best practices.
St. Ann's mission to help every child find his or her special purpose in life is a natural fit for Ms. Letizia, who views every student's education through both the lens of a teacher and the lens of a mother. With five children currently attending college, high school, middle school, and elementary school, Ms. Letizia has had vast opportunities to observe how children think and learn on a very personal level. She not only understands the importance of a strong partnership between school and home, but also practices it on a daily basis.
Ms. Letizia holds a BA and MS in Elementary Education from Fordham University as well as a Post Masters Leadership Certificate from SUNY Stony Brook.
"Start children off the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."
